The Title I Preschool program provides early intervention and readiness for four-year-olds. Classes are available to children who live in the attendance areas for Crest View, Fair Oaks, and Zanewood Elementary Schools. The program focuses on preparing children for kindergarten and future academic success. Children attend half days, Monday-Friday. There is no tuition and transportation may be available. Parent involvement is required through activities such as open house, conferences, evening events and take-home projects.

In addition to providing excellent preparation for elementary school, our preschools offer a place where young children can meet, interact, feel safe away from mom and dad, learn and have fun!

Our preschool programs incorporate the research-based early learning standards developed by the Minnesota Department of Education. Kindergarten and early childhood teachers work together to ensure the concepts and skills taught in preschool lay the groundwork for those taught in kindergarten.

Physical Education (link to website)

Mr. Jon Fritz

Physical education provides students opportunities to acquire the skills needed to make positive decisions about a healthy, physically active lifestyle. Through physical education, students develop physical skills; learn how to choose activities that promote a healthy lifestyle; and develop respect and good sportsmanship.

The Title One team works in collaboration with all Zanewood staff to identify individual students that have specific areas of growth. Staff then provides support through research based interventions in Reading and Math.

Our district instrumental music program begins in 5th grade when students select either a band or orchestra instrument.  Students have the opportunity to participate in weekly lessons with an instructor, with the goal of continuing into middle school and high school as they gain proficiency on their instrument.  Lessons begin in September, and in some rare cases students who move in mid-year can join if they show some proficiency.  Please contact the instructor if you have questions.
