Every day, our goal is to provide a safe learning and working environment for students and staff. As part of that effort, our school district is implementing new visitor and volunteer management system, called RAPTOR, at all district schools over the coming months. The new system will replace the current manual sign-in process.

Why RAPTOR?

Visitor management is one of the most important components of school safety and security. The district’s Risk and Emergency Management Advisory Committee (REMAC) recommended that the district use an electronic visitor management system. REMAC has more than 40 members, including representatives from all levels of the district, police and fire departments, and parents. The system we use in the district is called RAPTOR and is used in over 18,000 schools in the United States, including many districts in Minnesota.

What will visitors experience?

  • When parents or visitors arrive during the school day, they will be asked to present their photo ID. The ID will be scanned, and the visitor will be issued a name badge to wear during their visit.
  • If visitors do not have identification, office staff will verify the visitor’s identity through the student management system, take a photo and issue them a visitor badge.
  • On subsequent visits, visitors will be able to self-check in by scanning the bar code on the back of their driver’s license or other acceptable identification.
  • If visitors are dropping off items in the main office and not entering the school, they will not need to go through the visitor registration process.

Thank you in advance for your support of our work to enhance our safety protocols at WVR. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at 763-420-3337.
