The Choir is made up of fourth and fifth graders who volunteer to be part of this incredible group. They start practicing in early October for an hour one day a week before school. Mrs. Burk and Mrs. Bordonaro lead the group.
The choir repertoire consists of folk songs, art music, popular songs as well as songs from different cultures in foreign languages. Students are challenged to sing in multiple parts in rounds, partner songs, and two-part songs. Participating in choir gives the singers an opportunity to perform for audiences at Woodland and in the community. It is our hope that the singers will not only sharpen their musical skills and develop good vocal practices, but make new friends as they share the joy of making music together.
On December 3rd the choir gave three performances. The first performance took place before school at Woodland Elementary for parents, staff, and Pre-K students. Later in the morning the fourth and fifth graders boarded a bus and traveled down Oak Grove Parkway to St. Therese at Oxbow Lake where they performed for the residents at the care facility. Once again, back on the bus, they landed at the ISD 279 Educational Service Center where they performed for district office staff.
