Park Center's department for English Language Learning (formerly known as English as a Second Language or ESL) is a place for students new to the USA and to English to learn the language and academic skills necessary to succeed in their classes. Students take ELL classes to earn English credit while they take other mainstream classes. Our focus is teaching English along with academic skills, such as taking notes and tests, using the media center and computers.
We are fortunate to have a diverse student population in our ELL students. Students attend Park Center from Eritrea, Ethiopia, Guiana, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan, Guatemala, Bosnia, Mexico, Sierra Leone, Venezuela, India, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Russia and Tibet. Our students range in age from 15 to 20 and bring a world of experience to share with other students at Park Center.
