Family & Consumer Science

Where did you go to school and what is your previous job experience?

I attended the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Campus. I received my undergraduate degree in Youth Studies and Culture Studies and  my Masters of Education with a License in Family and Consumer Science. My previous job experience has been teaching at a few other schools in the Osseo District such as North View Junior High, Osseo Junior and Senior High, and Maple Grove Sr. High.

The 2011-2012 School Year

What is your teaching philosophy?

We are continuous learners!

Why did you choose your profession?

I knew I wanted to work with young people since high school.  After earning my undergraduate degree my college advisor made me aware of the area of Family and Consumer Science as a growing teaching field at the time. I looked into it and it caught my attention right away as to “This is what I want to do!”

What is your favorite quote?

From the Robert Frost poem “…Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.”

Advice for students going to college?

It’s a lot of work, but stick with it –especially the first years!

Biggest pet peeve?

Not much-I have a lot of patience.
