Ms. Megan Rohwer, RohwerM@district279.org

Language A

Where did you go to school and what is your previous job experience?

I went to high school at Concordia Academy in Roseville, went to St. Olaf College for two years, and Concordia University, St. Paul for three years. I was a student teacher at Park Center in January-March 2006.

How long have you worked at Park Center?

My first year at Park Center was the 2006-2007 school year.

What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy is a work in progress. I believe that every student can learn. Whether or not the student is good at graphing a multi-variable equation or discussing character development, they deserve the attention and help of the teacher.

Why did you choose your profession?

I had a really, really good 11th grade English teacher who inspired me to dig deeper into literature. I loved what I found! Where else can a person see human life, human success stories, and human tragedies every day (obviously besides the real thing)??? Literature and writing both offer opportunities to look closer at humanity.

What is your favorite quote?

"Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage." - Anais Nin

In what room(s) can you commonly be found?

Additional Comments(hobbies)?

I enjoy reading, playing sports, watching sports, running, knitting, and laughing.

Advice for students going to college?

My advice for students going to college would be to enjoy every moment of it. Have enough fun to make friends but don't have too much fun that you are not finishing homework or taking care of responsibilities. You are going to get out of college what you put into it. Do your homework, actually read the textbooks, but also remember that many of life's lessons occur outside the classroom. Try to buy your books online.

Biggest pet peeve?

Being disorganized
