Where did you go to school and what is your previous job experience?

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from UND, Grand Forks, and I received my Masterís degree from the University of St. Maryís. I previously taught at Northeast Metro Technical College in White Bear Lake for 5 years, 1 year at Park Center, and 9 years at Maple Grove Senior High.

What is your teaching philosophy?

My philosophy of teaching is to assist young people to become wonderful, caring, thinking, and productive human beings-- to think for themselves, to act for themselves, and to be the best they can be.

Why did you choose your profession?

I have always loved school and I enjoy high school students.

What is your favorite quote?

To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children, to earn the approbation of honest critics; to appreciate beauty; to give of one's self, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived--that is to have succeeded. I love the beach in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

Advice for students going to college?

Venture out of your comfort zone and stretch to meet new people, new challenges, and always do your very best!

Giving up without trying something different.

I would like to write for a travel magazine and be paid to travel the world.
