Students who are in the third trimester of their junior year and who have a 3.50 cumulative grade point average are eligible to apply for membership in the Park Center Senior High Chapter of the National Honor Society. Other criteria for membership include wholesome character, outstanding leadership and exemplary service. Applications are currently available.  A three member faculty council will make the final decision on membership.

Once students are members, they are required to attend weekly meetings and to participate in the many service activities sponsored by NHS. Some of the activities are as follows:

  • (Five) Blood Drives
  • NHS Sno-Daze weekly activities
  • Various volunteer opportunities
  • Sno-Daze Dance
  • In district volunteer programs (Elementary School and Middle School)
  • Community involvement programs

The following materials must be electronically turned in to Ms. Gagnon by

Monday, April 13, 2020, at 2:00 pm.

1. Application

You will fill out a form including your name, student ID number, a photo of yourself, and the names of the teachers from whom you are requesting recommendations. This will include a checklist of the other parts of the application to help you remain organized. Remember, you MUST have earned at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA to apply.

2. Essay

Your essay should demonstrate that you possess the qualities and attitude expected of NHS members. The faculty council and the NHS advisor may choose several essays to be read during the induction ceremony in May.

Please write an essay of no more than 200 words addressing the following questions:

Write your definition of service. Why is it important to you? What kind of service do you enjoy the most? How has it shaped who you are? Include a personal experience.

3. Resume

Complete the resume with your leadership, service, and character experiences. Be as complete and specific as possible.

4.Teacher Recommendation

Ask two teachers who know you through class or an organization to fill out the teacher recommendation form. Please be sure to give teachers adequate time to complete this recommendation. They will also need your full name, student ID number, and the link to the online form.

It is strongly recommended to double-check your submissions to make sure they are complete.

All applicants will be notified of the result of your application by Friday, April 24, 2020.
