Language Clubs!  Every Monday after school our language clubs meet for the purpose of creating community for our students who speak English as a 2nd or 3rd language.  While all Park Brook students are part of the school community, it is important for everyone to have smaller communities that share commonalities.  We offer  Hmong, Spanish, and Vietnamese Language Clubs for students of Park Brook who have one of these languages as their home language. We also offer a Language Club on the same day for our other students who have a home language other than English, as some of students have another home language yet there are not enough students to form a group.  For example, we have one student who speaks Arabic.

While students are making significant gains in their English Language skills (see Mr. Taylor’s page for academic growth data), it is beneficial for their learning, personal growth, and connectedness to the community to have a time to speak in their home language, develop home language skills, learn more about their culture, and so on.  In addition, we attempt to incorporate parental involvement in these groups for parents to connect with other parents and the school community.

The Language Club for students with different home languages focuses on learning about each other’s cultures, developing language skills, connecting with others, and providing support with understanding school culture they may have.

Registration forms are available in the office or from our EL (English Language) teachers.
