Osseo Senior High fine arts students create fantastic and stunning works of art in their classes. They are able to compete in a variety of state and national level awards competitions.

3rd Congressional District Art Show
Congratulations to the fine art students who competed in this year's 3rd Congressional District Art Show hosted by Representative Eric Paulson; Devin Chierello (pictured below with the Representative), Ricky Chanthavong, Jane Oh, Jim Lor, Jenna Carlson & Rella Dibba.
21st Annual National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition
Osseo Senior High’s ceramics students Alexa Paulson and Emma Hauser were selected to take part in the 21st Annual National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition. Paulson’s Fluxing Sphere and Hauser’s Pierced Vase were selected. The work will be on display in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center from March 14th to March 16th. The National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition is an annual juried ceramic competition for Kindergarten through Grade 12 (K-12) students in the United States. This year had over 1200 entries. The exhibition was designed to showcase the best K-12 ceramic work made in the country, the exhibition takes place in a different city each year in conjunction with the annual conference of The National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA). The NCECA conference is the preeminent ceramic event in the US annually, gathering professionals from universities, colleges, museums, art galleries and the ceramic art world to a host city to view exhibitions, demonstrations, talks and other ceramic events. For that week, the host city is the world capital of ceramics.

National Scholastic Awards
The Art Department at OSH is thrilled and honored to announce two of our student artists have been selected as National Scholastic Art Award Winners. This selection puts them among the top one percent of 7-12 grade art and writing students nationwide!
Ben Gilbertson is being awarded the National Gold Medal in Ceramics for Post Historic, Eric Lundstrom is being awarded the National Silver Medal in Photography for Cimmerian Reverie.
There were over 3000 works of art awarded Gold and Silver Medals this year nationally. 29 were awarded golds in ceramics.
The winning artworks will be on display this summer at Carnegie Hall in New York City; Ben will be in attendance at the ceremony among the nation’s gold medal winners, celebrities and dignitaries and his work will be part of a 2-year traveling exhibition.
The Art Department at Osseo thanks all of the parents, teachers, coaches, administrators, and staff that have celebrated and encouraged their creativity and drive to be the best!

Minnesota Scholastic Awards
Osseo art students had an amazing showing at the Minnesota Scholastic Art Awards. Osseo students received 56 awards in the show. Students from around the state of Minnesota competed in 27 different categories of art. There are three tiers of awards: honorable mention (top 33% of entries), silver key (top 15% of entries), and gold key (top 5% of entries).
This year there were more than 4000 submissions from schools around the state. Gold and silver key winners will be on display at the Regis Art Center at the University of Minnesota from January 30 - February 17, 2018. An awards ceremony will be held at the Wiseman Art Center February 17, 2018 for the gold and silver key award winners. The gold key winners will advance to represent the state of Minnesota at the regional round of judging.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the longest-running awards, most prestigious competition, and largest source of scholarships for creative teenagers in the United States. The awards program was created in 1923 by Maurice R. "Robbie" Robinson, founder of Scholastic Corporation, and has been administered by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers since 1994. It has an impressive legacy and a noteworthy roster of past winners including Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Joyce Carol Oates, and many others.

On October 26, 2017, the Osseo Senior High orchestras, conducted by Dr. Christa Dean, performed their English Suites concert with works by Purcell, Handel, Warlock, Holst, and the Beatles.
On December 4, 2017, the orchestra presented a Celebration of Carols to kick off the holiday season with traditional carols from Ukraine, England, Canada, and Puerto Rico with works by Vaughn Williams, Holst, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and more.
Sophomore violinist Jane Oh (below) was accepted to the ALL-STATE Orchestra, one of only twelve violinists in the state to receive this honor.
Other events included a guest clinic with Dr. Mark Laycock from Wichita State University in Kansas and a masterclass with the Meadowlark String Trio.
