Activities OrioleACT Testing

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Next Wednesday, April 19th, is the Grade 11 ACT test day. Even though this day will be different than a typical school day all high school buses will run on their regular schedule and students will be expected to participate fully in the day. Attendance will be determined by ACT completion or completion of the student’s online classwork.

Here is how it will affect each grade.

  • Grades 9 and 10- This will be a virtual learning day, not a day off. That means that instead of physically attending the school they will be expected to participate in each of their classes online through Schoology. Each class’s tasks for April 19th will be available in Schoology.  Attendance will be determined by the student completing and turning in the day’s tasks. Students that do not complete the work will be considered unexcused. Individual teachers will provide more details. It is critical that students complete their work for each of their classes.
  • Grade 11- All eleventh graders are expected to come to school to take the ACT.
  • Grade 12- For twelfth graders, this will also be a virtual learning day.  That means that instead of physically attending the school they will be expected to participate in each of their classes on-line through Schoology. Each class’s tasks for April 19th will be available in Schoology. Attendance will be determined by the student completing and turning in the day’s tasks. Students that do not complete the work will be considered unexcused. Individual teachers will provide more details. It is critical that students complete their work for each of their classes.
Exception- Twelfth graders who did not participate in the statewide administration of the ACT last year have the option of attending school and taking the ACT with the eleventh graders. This should have been prearranged with the school.  Attending and taking the ACT will count as attending and they will not have to participate through Schoology.

Special education students who are in level three Connect, Skills or Strategies programs will still come to school for instruction. These students/families will receive information separately. If you have a question please check with your student’s case manager or special education building coordinator.

Students that do not have access to the internet to complete their work may attend school. A supervised area will be available for them to work.

Sincerely,

Ronnie King
