Share your ideas regarding a new superintendent

Osseo Area Schools is searching for a new superintendent, and your input is needed to help identify the qualities of a superintendent that are most important to our various stakeholders. Your perspectives will contribute to the school board's decision making as it chooses a new leader for the district, following the retirement of current Superintendent Kate Maguire.

Students Connecting Through International Service FundraiserStudents Connecting Through International Service has been Oak View's global outreach project since it began fourteen years ago.  Oak View, along with five other elementary schools in the district, select a student representative who leads the fundraising efforts within their building.  Our representative, is 5th grader, Madison Olson.  Earlier in December, Madison is collected funds from each classroom.  Our fundraising efforts were a HUGE success!!  Oak View raised $2,400...this is the MOST ever raised!    These funds will go toward the purchase of school supplies for the students in Sasabe, Sonora, Mexico. In April, Madison, along with the other school representatives, will be traveling to Mexico to distribute the school supplies purchased with the funds collected.  Children in Mexico are unable to attend school if they do not have school supplies.  A little bit goes a long way in helping our global community.

Craft fairLooking or that perfect gift, a little stocking stuffer or something to hang on your own wall?  Then the 25th Annual Oak View Holiday Craft Fair is just for you!  Doors open at 9am and the fun continues until 3pm on Saturday, December 2nd.  Booths are set up in the gym, cafeteria & line the hallway. And while you are there, stop by the Bake Sale hosted by our very own Oak View Studednt Council.

Recess and Cold Weather Elementary school students are expected to go outdoors for recess, unless the wind chill factor falls below –5°F.

Parents and guardians should be certain that their children are appropriately clothed with mittens, hats, coats, etc.  During the winter months, sometimes parents request that their children remain in the classroom during noon recess. Such requests are difficult to honor because duty-free periods are provided for instructors at this time, and the rooms are not under teacher supervision. We have found that a short period of outdoor exercise generally refreshes children and gives them the opportunity to stretch and exercise muscles. Students arrive back in the classroom with renewed focus on learning.
