Thanks in part to the determination of one of our 4th graders, Elm Creek students enjoyed strawberry milk during lunch on Valentine's Day. This was the idea of 4th grader, Julianna F., who wanted all of our students to have a way to celebrate Valentine's Day together at school. Julianna approached Mrs. Ness and our kitchen staff with her idea and then presented it to District 279 Director of Food Service, Tom Pellegrino, whom she happened to see at a school board meeting while she was there attending with her Girl Scout troop. Mr. Pellegrino liked Julianna's idea and was able to make it happen.
Thank you to Julianna, Mr. Pellegrino, Mrs. Ness and our kitchen staff for the extra effort it took to serve Strawberry Milk at the Eagle's Nest Cafe for Valentine's Day! It was a big hit with our students and put a smile on their faces, which you can see in our photo slideshow below.
