NEWS FROM CREST VIEWS SOCIAL WORKER, Mrs. Gluek
COIN DRIVE FOR AFRICA
As a global project our CARES Crew participated in after attending “We Day”, Crest View partnered with the Free the Children Organization to collect money for families in Africa. Thanks to the generous donations from students, staff and family members we collected $1,066.26! Your generous donations were used to purchase 21 goats for families in Kenya through their Alternative Income and Livelihood program. This program helps to empower the whole community to break the cycle of poverty. You can visit their website at www.freethechildren.org to see more about the programs. It is a great way to truly see the impact that we are making and to feel connected with the community that will have nutritious milk and sustainable income for years to come. If you would like more information about the program or have questions, please call us at 763-561-5165.
Mrs. McNamara, School Counselor and Mrs. Gluek, Social Worker
Welcome Parents and Students to our 2014-15 school year. myself. My name is Lisette Gluek and I am in my 3rd year at Crest View. However, I have worked in the Osseo Area Schools before, in fact, just down the road at neighboring schools, Zanewood Community School and Brooklyn Junior High.
My hours at Crest View will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Friday mornings. You may meet me in the lunchroom helping out with breakfast or lunch, or walking the halls directing students to where they need to be. I will spend most of my time working with students who receive special education services and assisting parents in navigating the many ways we can help your child if they are less successful in school than you would like them to be.
If you have any questions about your child’s educational program or have a need outside of school which you may think maybe interfering with your student’s learning, please feel free to call me at Crest View at 763-561-5165, ext. 72158. I look forward to meeting you and wish you and your family a great school year!
Parent/teacher meetings have been completed and goals have been set for each of your children. Do your children need any support with getting their homework done? This help is available at our local library and is run by adult volunteers.
The Brooklyn Park Library, located at 8600 Zane Ave., and the Brooklyn Center Library, located at 6125 Shingle Creek Parkway, both offer weekly academic support on Monday and Tuesday, from 4:00 p.m to 6:30 p.m. and on Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Using this library resource will allow your children to check out books to enjoy at the same time.
