During this school year, Cedar Island has conducted 2 school wide service projects. The first project was to collect children’s books for Hospitality House which is an after school program for children in North Minneapolis. We collected 2,200 books and PTO donated money for bookshelves to house those books.
The second project was to make “grab and go” bags for cancer patients at the Hope House in St. Paul. Below is a link for a story that appeared last night on CCX.

We have a few more service projects coming up yet this year. The first one is Pennies for Patients to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society which will kick-off on March 6. This will be followed by a service project to make tie blankets for local animal shelters. We will conduct this project in March shortly before spring break. This year, our tie blanket project is made possible thanks to a grant provided by the District 279 Foundation. And, finally, we will conduct a food drive near the end of the school year.
Thank you to all Cedar Island students, staff, and families for supporting these service projects.
