Cedar Island students and staff will be participating in a service project on Tuesday, March 20th. They will be making tie fleece blankets for two animal shelters--the Animal Humane Society and Second Hand Hounds. Thank you to familes who have provided materials or money to support this project.

playgroundDuring the summer of 2018 Maple Grove Parks and Recreation will be replacing Cedar Island Elementary's playground equipment. Thank you to those that completed the survey giving input on the type of equipment you would like to see on our playground. The next step is an open meeting on Thursday, March 15 from 8:00-9:00 a.m. in the Cedar Island Media Center. Flagship Recreation and Maple Grove's Parks and Recreation Department will present a couple of designs and get input from the community. Please join us for this meeting.

Salas Moon 2017bLaura Purdie Salas Visits CI

 

On March 6, our PTO will be sponsoring a school visit from Laura Purdie Salas, a local author. Laura grew up in Florida and now lives and writes in Minnesota. She will visit with each grade level during the day and will then have an evening session for families in the Media Center at 6:30 PM. The evening session will consist of activities such as an interactive reading, word/reading game, and a whole group writing activity. Laura has written more than 125 books for children, including Meet My Family!, If You Were the Moon, Water Can Be... and BookSpeak! She loves to get children excited about reading and writing.
