BASSWOOD READ-A-THON 2020
February 1 - February 29, 2020
February has been designated as "I Love to Read" month at Basswood Elementary. All students are encrouraged to record the number of minutes that they read during the month of February on their Read-a-thon envelope. The Read-a-thon is the PTO's second big fund-raiser of the year. It helps fund things like visits from the naturalist, staff appreciation week, outdoor benches, the new circulation desk in the media center, and more! There will be a prize for everyone who turns in their minutes as well as for the top fundraisers and the top readers Student envelopes were sent home on January 29th and should be returned by Monday, March 2nd.
Ways to Contribute:
Cash or check donations can be placed in the students' Read-a-thon envelopes.
Contribute through Pay Pal by clicking on the button at the bottom of this page.
Prizes for the Read-a-thon:
* Top 5 money-raisers will win lunch provided by the PTO with a staff memeber of their choice.
* Top 5 readers in each grade will win gift certificates to be used at the BOGO Scholastic Book Fair in June.
* Classroom with the highest average minutes read per student in each grade will win a Build Your Own Sundae Party!
* Everyone who turns in minutes will receive a prize.
School Wide Reading Goal: 620,000 minutes
School Wide Fundraising Goal: $22,000
If we meet our School Wide Reading Goal, the top reader from each grade and the top money raisers in the school will automatically get to be contestants, in the Minute to Win It Contest. All other contestants will be drawn randomly from the pool of students who turn in minutes!
