FREEDOM SCHOOLS PROGRAM

The Children’s Defense Fund - Freedom Schools program provides summer enrichment that helps children fall in love with reading, increases their self-esteem, and generates more positive attitudes towards learning. Children are taught using a model pedagogy that supports children and families around five essential components: high-quality academic enrichment; parent and family involvement; civic engagement and social action; intergenerational leadership development; and nutrition, health and mental health.

DATES: June 15th - July 23rd (No programming July 3rd)
HOURS: Monday - Friday from 9 - 4 pm

LOCATIONS:
Crest View Elementary School -8200 Zane Ave N, Brooklyn Park, MN 55443|
Garden City Elementary School - 3501 65th Ave N, Brooklyn Center, MN 55429

GRADES: K - 7th grade (the grade level during 19-20 school year) You must be a student attending an elementary or middle schoolwithin Osseo Area Schools ISD 279. * See FAQ for details.

COST: Families must participate in weekly family nights and/or volunteer. Freedom Schools Summer Literacy Enrichment Program is free.

TRANSPORTATION: The parent or guardian is responsible for transportation to and from Freedom Schools Summer Literacy Enrichment Program. No buses are provided.
