As many of you know our BJH/PCSH CLIMB students travelled to China for the past two years. Mr. Wenwu Fu, a graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, has helped as a translator, organized visits to schools, and managed all of our needs as we traveled around China. Mr. Fu was a wonderful asset to us as we traveled around China.
Mr. Fu is currently leading a group of two teachers and nine students who are staying with host families from BJH and PCSH. Four of the students are staying with CLIMB students who attend PCSH. Ms. Parpart has graciously welcomed the Chinese students to her school. At BJH we have two teachers and five students.
My favorite story to date: As we took a tour of BJH Ms. Weatherman noticed the students looking at a mechanical pencil sharpener on the wall. Mr. LaFrenier correctly positioned the sharpener on the wall and Ms. Weatherman supplied Disney pencils from her personal supply. Chinese students took turns sharpening a pencil, then Ms. Weatherman produced an electric pencil sharpener. The curiosity, wonderment and joy on their faces was amazing! They also benefited from the Disney pencils that Ms. Weatherman supplied!
I would like you to join me in welcoming our guests from China.
